About Us

HISTORY – Ideal Hope Renaissance (IHR) is an El Paso based nonprofit IRS approved 501( c)3 organization established to help bridge the racial and social justice inequalities gaps in our society.  We live in a time where many people imagine society to be “color-blind” and “post-racial” The issue of racial injustice continues to permeate the allocation of economic resources and recreational institutions.  Most often racial and social inequalities have been looked beyond surface-level diversity.  It becomes apparent to IHR that race and racism continue to impact the experiences and opportunities of people of color in a variety of ways across numerous economic and social allocation of resources settings IHR is established to provide outreach and education that emphasize the structural and institutional nature of racism in contemporary society

Broadly, we conceptualize social justice as a commitment to working toward a reality in which all people and groups have access to an equitable, respectful, and fair society. We also draw upon the work of Martin Luther King, envisioning social justice as both a goal of full and equitable participation in society by people from all social identity groups and a process that is democratic, participatory, collaborative, respectful of diversity, and which affirms human agency. In addition, Ideal Hope Renaissance is informed by social justice distinction in which social justice can involve two distinct facets – recognition (i.e., respect and dignity for marginalized groups) and redistribution (i.e., sharing wealth and power). With respect to redistribution, Ideal Hope Renaissance will focus on social justice in terms of distributive justice – the material and nonmaterial benefits and burdens available to all members of a society based on social cooperation. In this context, social justice involves fair distribution of economic goods and services (material benefits) and the social production of goods, such as access, opportunity, and overall well-being (nonmaterial benefits).

Mission: Statement

Ideal Hope Renaissance (IHR) envisions a world where society and its systems such as education, criminal justice, and health care, housing the economy are not only just, but fair, and inclusive, thereby enabling all people to participate and reach their full potential.
